Getting to DCA

DCA is conveniently located in Arlington, VA close to downtown.  There are several ways to get to DCA, but parking at the airport may be difficult, as the parking garages are known to fill up.  Read below on ways to get to the airport.

Metro DCA is served by the Blue and Yellow line of the Metro.   Hop on the metro with no worries about parking.  For Metro hours and closures, https://www.wmata.com/schedules/trip-planner/.  When exiting the metro rail car at DCA, follow the signs to Terminal 1 for SWA and Sun Country, and follow the signs to Terminal 2 for American, Alaska and Delta flights.

Parking at DCA – due to capacity issues at the Terminal and Economy parking garages at DCA, the airport is not validating parking for volunteer greeters.  If you do desire to park, it is recommended that you reserve your spot 48 hours in advance at DCA Reserve Parking.  Otherwise, parking may be limited.

Traveling by bus – if you have a group greeting and would like to arrive by bus, please email dcahonorflight@gmail.com to we can help arrange parking for the bus.  We will need a couple of days’ notice for this.

In DC, there is free parking around the National Mall and on Ohio Drive (National Parks jurisdiction only).  All other DC street parking requires meter payment even on Saturday and until 10 pm.  Please read the parking signs very carefully!  Tickets are expensive and parking requirements change. Street parking near the Memorials is very limited!
