Greenlight a Vet

CHANGE ONE LIGHT TO GREEN

Change one light to green in a visible location – on your porch, in your home, or at your office – and keep it glowing every day as a symbol of appreciation and support for our Veterans. Then, share your support by taking a picture of your green light and posting it using the hashtag #GreenLightAVet. Learn more about the movement here.

WHAT IS GREENLIGHT A VET?
America’s Veterans are some of our nation’s bravest, hardest-working men and women. However, it’s hard to show them the appreciation they deserve when, back home and out of uniform, they’re more camouflaged than ever. Greenlight A Vet is a campaign designed to establish visible national support for our Veterans by changing one light to green.
THE MEANING OF GREEN
Green is the color of hope, renewal, and well-being. “Greenlight” is also a term commonly used to activate forward movement. The simple action of changing one light to green is intended to spark a national conversation regarding the recognition of Veterans, and “greenlight” them forward as valued members of our communities.

Pearl Harbor Day

“We must be the great arsenal of democracy. For us this is an emergency as serious as war itself. We must apply ourselves to our task with the same resolution, the same sense of urgency, the same spirit of patriotism and sacrifice as we would show were we at war.” – FDR

As you spend your day in complete freedom, please remember our WWII vets who enlisted to serve our nation before and after the attack on Pearl Harbor: December 7, 1941.

Beautiful New Song

Happy Tuesday, volunteers! Wanted to keep you interested this off-season and share some beautiful new music that came our way. Texas ’55 Band has just released a new song, Daddy Never Talked About the War. The lyrics speak to the experiences many of our Honor Flight veterans have had, and the impact an Honor Flight trip could have on them.

For more information, check them out here.

It was a season for the HF DCA record books!

Our Veterans rave about the greetings that they get at the airport — for many, it is the highlight of their trip! We just wanted to take a moment to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for an absolutely incredible fall 2015 DCA Honor Flight season!! We couldn’t provide these warm welcomes without you. Have a wonderful and relaxing off-season and we’ll see you all next spring!

Honor Flight DCA Ground Crew Sweatshirts

Many people have asked about the crewneck yellow sweatshirts. We can order another batch this fall/winter but each volunteer will be responsible for covering the cost of the sweatshirt – $20. We will collect payment before placing the final order (PayPal or Venmo) and then arrange a couple of dates and times to hand out the sweatshirts that were ordered.

We cannot order until at least 24 people express interest (the smallest batch we can get) and then delivery and printing will take an additional 3-5 weeks to receive the shirts. We will keep you up to date with the timeline as we learn more!

Please go to this link to fill out a form if you are serious about purchasing a sweatshirt and we will get them ordered!
