Thank you for your interest in serving our veterans as an Honor Flight Guardian! It is a rewarding experience, and an essential part of making the day a safe and happy one for our deserving heroes.

Guardian opportunities fall 2014

The Fall season of Honor Flight is underway, and there are several opportunities to serve as a guardian or military floater.

Military Floaters Needed 10.7.14 and 10.21.14: The Heartland and Greater Tri-State Ohio Honor Flight hubs are in need of Military Personnel to serve as floaters during their time in DC. Floaters are not assigned to a specific veteran and, therefore, formal training is not required. We do, however, recommend reviewing the Training section of our website (www.honorflightdca.com).
Guardians Needed 10.11.14: The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight (from Wisconsin) are in need of a few more guardians for their veterans. Guardians must be between the ages of 18 and 65, fit enough to walk up to five miles throughout the day, and able to assist an adult male in and out of a wheelchair.
Please email Laura R, who has taken over as Guardian Coordinator, at honorflightguardians@gmail.com if you are available for any of these trips.
Please remember that guardians must be between the ages of 18 and 65, and able to push a wheelchair carrying up to 200 lbs. Guardians must also have completed Guardian Training. If you have not completed this training, please let me know so that training can be scheduled.
As always, continue checking the HF DCA website (Honor Flight DCA Reagan National Airport) and our Facebook page (Honor Flight at Reagan – Welcoming Our Heroes) for information about upcoming opportunities to greet our WWII veterans at Reagan National Airport and the WWII Memorial.
Thank you for all you do!
